Japan/Global Industrials Analyst, Global Multi-Strategy HF – Singapore

A leading global hedge fund is seeking an experienced Industrials Analyst to join its expanding investment team in Singapore. The role will focus on deep fundamental research across global industrial sectors, with a particular emphasis on Japan. Sectors include Mining, Automotive, Factory Automation, Energy and Defense (excluding Technology, Consumer and Financials).

About the Role

The fund follows a market-neutral approach and offers significant resources, structured support and mentorship for long-term career development – from Analyst to sub-PM/PM. The team places a strong emphasis on deep fundamental research, favoring analysts who focus on nuanced business drivers, conduct independent diligence including expert interviews and management engagement and develop differentiated investment theses grounded in original research.

While the immediate priority is to strengthen coverage of Japan Industrials – where white space remains significant – the team is also open to candidates with global industrials experience who are willing to focus on Japan, or expand into broader Asia and ex-Asia industrial names over time.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct deep fundamental research across assigned industrial sectors
• Build and maintain financial models, valuations, and investment theses
• Identify actionable catalysts through expert interviews, management meetings and channel checks
• Develop deep coverage across sub-sectors such as Factory Automation, Mining, Machinery, Autos and Energy, driving differentiated views based on proprietary analysis
• Collaborate closely with the Portfolio Manager and other team members to support portfolio construction
  
  

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 8–15 years of total professional experience, including at least 3 years of public markets investing experience at a hedge fund, long-only fund, long-biased strategy or private equity firm
• Strong domain knowledge in Industrials (e.g. mining, machinery, autos, energy), ideally with Japan or global coverage preferred, though generalists with deep fundamental research capabilities will also be considered
• Demonstrated ability to produce deep, company-specific insights beyond macro-level narratives
• Comfortable operating in a high-conviction, low-name-count research environment
• Highly motivated, intellectually curious and capable of working independently within a team-based culture
• Language skills in Japanese or another Asian language are a plus, but not required
