Japan Equities Portfolio Manager / Senior Investment Analyst
Location: Singapore
A leading global investment firm is seeking a Japan Equities Analyst or Portfolio Manager to join its dedicated Japan team, based in Singapore. This role offers the opportunity to join a small, high-performing group of investors focused on fundamental equity research and long-term value creation in the Japanese market.
About the Role
The successful candidate will contribute to a concentrated and fundamentally driven investment strategy, conducting deep diligence and valuation work on Japanese corporates across a broad range of sectors. The role involves active participation in team discussions, portfolio construction, and idea generation. It is well-suited for an experienced investor who enjoys operating in a collaborative, intellectually rigorous environment.
Key Responsibilities
•Conduct deep fundamental research and valuation analysis on Japanese equities
•Build detailed financial models and assess business quality and valuation drivers
•Present company and industry insights to the team and engage in investment debates
•Participate in portfolio construction discussions and position sizing
•Collaborate with other sector teams to leverage broader equity platform expertise
•Support marketing or client-facing initiatives as required
Ideal Candidate Profile
•8–10+ years of investment experience as a public equities analyst (including buy side)
•Strong academic background; postgraduate degree preferred
•CFA designation is an advantage
•Proven experience in valuation-driven investment processes
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills; collaborative mindset
•Genuine interest in behavioral finance and long-term investing
•Track record of contributing to investment performance
•High integrity, strong work ethic, and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities
