Location: Hong Kong
Client: Global Multi-Strategy Hedge Fund
Compensation: Total Comp: US$200K–300K
Language Requirement: Fluent in Mandarin or Japanese
Overview
Our client is a globally renowned multi-strategy hedge fund with a deep commitment to talent development and long-term investing excellence. As part of its continued focus on building best-in-class investment teams, the firm is seeking to hire an Investment Analyst Coach to join its APAC HQ in Hong Kong.
This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in shaping the current and next generation of analysts across the Asia region. The role is ideal for a seasoned investor who is passionate about mentorship, training, and building scalable analyst development frameworks – outside of a direct risk-taking capacity.
Key Responsibilities
-
Serve as a dedicated coach and mentor to a growing pool of analysts (over 50+ in the region), with a focus on idea generation, research process development, and investment modelling refinement.
-
Conduct 1-on-1 coaching sessions to support individual analyst growth and performance.
-
Collaborate closely with the head of the Asia training program and other senior leadership on initiatives across onboarding, training rotations, and post-placement development.
-
Provide input into hiring decisions through participation in investment analyst interviews.
-
Help build and refine evaluation tools, analyst benchmarks, and feedback frameworks.
-
Act as a bridge between analysts, portfolio managers (PMs), and firm leadership to ensure talent development initiatives are aligned with investment excellence.
Ideal Candidate Profile
-
Investment background is essential – ideally a current or former PM with experience in market neutral strategies or a senior analyst/head of research with team leadership experience.
-
Prior experience mentoring or managing 1–2 junior team members is strongly preferred.
-
Fluent in Mandarin or Japanese.
-
Based in Hong Kong or willing to relocate. (While Japan-based candidates may be considered, preference is for HK due to team concentration.)
-
Strong interpersonal and soft skills – high emotional intelligence, patience, and communication ability to support diverse analyst needs.
-
A self-starter who thrives in a structured but non-risk role, with an ability to collaborate across geographies and with multiple stakeholders.
-
Ideal for candidates looking to transition from a high-intensity risk-taking role into a high-impact 9-to-6 position that still maintains close proximity to investment teams and firm leadership.
Why This Role
-
Join one of the most respected hedge funds globally, with a strong institutional culture of mentorship and training.
-
Work closely with high-performing analysts and PMs across the Asia region.
-
Contribute directly to the firm’s long-term edge through talent cultivation.
-
High visibility role with interaction across leadership, investment teams, and training program heads.
-
Attractive compensation for a non-risk role, with excellent work-life balance.
If you are a seasoned investment professional with a passion for mentoring and developing junior and senior analyst talent, we encourage you to apply.
